Having the Cross and Icon at our Parish was heaven sent. Literally.
Looking back, it wasn't even the actual day that was the highlight. The preparations leading up to it was the cake and the actual day, the whole 17 hours we had it, was the delicious creamy icing on top.
Sitting at the foot of the Cross and Icon can conjure an ocean of meanings, lessons and revelations from ones soul. If I can put an image to my experience it would be the moment when Peter walked on water, even if for a brief while.
A lot of people over look the fact that he did walk on water and relate more to focusing on the storms in life and how Jesus is always instantly there to help. But for me, I was blessed through this event to connect in that one moment, the moment of peace within the storms of life because I was focusing on Jesus.
Peace because, in amongst the storms of organising, discovered and people who was ready to help out, from all ages and walks of life. From the experienced project manager to the knowledgeable accountants to the wise people who just know how to get things done.
Peace from the youth. Their faith just overflows and fills people around them.
Peace from our support priest, who trust us with so much yet never lose faith.
Peace from the community, the choirs who sang at each hour, the people who encompassed us in the Living Rosary, the people who fed us throughout the night and morning.
Peace from my friends.
Peace from my family.
Peace from God. Know that it will be all okay if I never loose focus on Him no matter how rough the seas are or how loud the wind blows.
Peace knowing that His hand will be instantly there, because it never left, if I for one moment start to sink, overwhelmed but life.
Zooming out, I know I can use this gift that the Journey of Cross and Icon has giving me in all aspects of my life. I pray that people will be as open to hearing what God wishes to say to them not just in big events like the Journey of the Cross and Icon, but in every moment of their lives.
